The Audubon Center at Debs Park is a natural jewel in the heart of Los Angeles with something for everyone! We are a community hub located in Montecito Heights, less than 5 miles from Downtown LA. Nestled within the 282-acre Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, the Center has inspired a love of nature in over a quarter of a million residents of Los Angeles. The park is home to over 140 species of birds, including American Kestrels, Great-horned Owls, Northern Flickers and Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Come visit us today! The Center is open to the public Thursdays to Sundays from 8am - 4pm and admission is always FREE.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND
There is free parking available in our lot onsite, however spots fill up quickly. If the lot is full, please park along Griffin Ave. and walk up to the Center.
Restrooms and a drinking fountain are available onsite.
The Center does not sell any water, snacks, or merchandise. Please plan accordingly.
WHILE YOU'RE HERE...
Borrow binoculars, field guides, art supplies and more to go out and explore the park! (Before visiting, check out our Nature Arts & Crafts!)
We encourage visitors to enjoy and explore the space in whatever way feels right to them. With this being said, please be respectful of our shared space and keep the following guidelines in mind:
The Center is a shared space - please be mindful of other visitors, volunteers & staff
You may bring outside food or snacks to enjoy at the Center - please be sure to throw away all trash afterwards
Leave no trace and be gentle with the natural surroundings - do not pull or trim the native plants & foliage.
Do not throw sticks, rocks, coins or any other objects into the Center ponds. Climbing in the ponds is not permitted under any circumstances.
The park is home to many different kinds of wildlife such as birds, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits & more - please be respectful of the wildlife and never feed a wild animal.
Smoking is not allowed in or around the Center
In an effort to preserve the natural habitat, dogs are not allowed in or around the Center as their presence and scent disrupts the environment for wildlife being protected in the park. Dogs are welcome on the Debs Park trails outside of the Center's 17 acres.
Poison oak can be found in the vicinity of the Center's Butterfly Loop & Hummingbird Trail. Please stay on the designated trails and be aware when touching any plants.
