About the Organization: The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world. We work with the team based out of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Visit the NPS website for more info!
Our Partnership: The Audubon Center at Debs Park serves as a field trip site for the National Park Service’s Every Kid Outdoors Program, which brings over 2,000 4th graders to the park annually. NPS was also instrumental in establishing our onsite native plant nursery, the Los Nogales Nursery, in 2014 – in which we have since been able to grow over 5,000 native plants that have been planted in Debs Park and along the LA River. NPS is also a regular at our community events, where they engage event attendees through activities like native plant walks and “bird banding” (with stuffed birds).
